It's probably a Gryllacrididae , commonly called "leaf-rolling crickets" or "raspy crickets" and sometimes called "Wolf crickets"....These are predators of other insects and spiders.
So, it will eat the cockroaches in the hotel.

I don't know what it is, but I killed a couple of them in math class this week. I live in Florida.

I miss FL already. Just came up to NC from Orlando.

I don't really like it here. I live in Boca Raton. I don't like warm weather or the beach, so it doesn't really fit my tastes. As for the bug, kill it. Kill it with fire.

Oh man, I love warmth and beaches. I'll trade states with you any time.

Where do you live? This possibly sounds like a fair trade.

Also called cave crickets in NC. Where in NC are you?

Just moved to Greensboro for a new job, but had to take this awful room in Lexington because every hotel is booked up for some BBQ festival. And maybe some furniture convention. And possibly something else too. The bartender at Buffalo Wild Wings said this is the worst week to find a room in Greensboro. Lucky me.

shit, NC must really suck.

I got a flat tire once in Greensboro. True story .

It's actually a pretty nice area where I am. I just happen to have a love for the sunshine state that I developed long before Florida Man became a meme.

When I think Florida the first thing that comes to mind is humidity. Degrading genetics is the second thing. I grew up in AZ, so I may be biased.

It's a jumping cricket, they're all over in NC. Harmless, and beneficial to have around.
BTW, welcome to NC. You're going to love it there. I'm from the Pinehurst area, but now spend about 80% of my time in Frankfurt, Germany. (Wish I could somehow blend the culture and vibrancy of Frankfurt with the weather and people of NC...that would be perfect.)
After you get settled, kill some time one afternoon by hitting Foreign Cars Italia in G'boro. They usually have some drool worthy specimens on hand and the staff is very accommodating.

My brother regularly shoots spiders to goo with a plastic-pellet soft air gun.
